Receipts and invoices on transactions
A bank line says that money moved. A receipt or an invoice says why. If CRA ever asks, the receipt is what you show. SoloBook lets you keep it right next to the payment.
📎 Attach a file
- Open Transactions and click the payment. The review panel opens.
- Find Documents and press Attach files, or drop files onto the panel.
- Wait for Uploading… to finish.
What works:
- PDF, JPEG, PNG or WebP files;
- up to 10 MB each;
- up to 10 files per payment.
SoloBook checks what a file really is, not only its name, so a renamed file of another kind is refused. While a file is on its way, the row cannot be saved or confirmed. The panel says Wait for the upload to finish, so no file is lost.
On a payment you can Open a file, Download it or Remove it. Removing asks you to confirm, and a removed file is gone for good.
Attach what supports the payment: a receipt, an invoice, a page of a contract. Please do not attach anything that carries bank passwords or full card numbers.
🔎 Find payments without a document
In Transactions, the Documents filter has two choices: payments with a document and payments without one. There is also a shortcut for business expenses without a document. Use it before tax season to see what is still missing.
A small marker on a row shows that it has documents.
💼 Which plans include it
Attaching files is part of the Starter and Pro plans. On the Free plan, the panel says so and links to the plans. See Plans and billing.
If a paid plan ends, attaching new files pauses. Files you already attached stay available and you can still open and download them.
📤 Taking the files out
- Download my data in Settings → Account can include your files as a ZIP. See Your accountant, your data and your privacy.
- The year bundle on Reports puts one year’s workbook and its documents into one ZIP for your accountant. See Reports.
🧹 When a payment is deleted
You can delete a payment you added by hand. If it holds documents, SoloBook says how many and asks before deleting them with it. Rows that come from your bank are never deleted; you can hide them instead. See Reviewing transactions.
